New players may be a bit intimidated after their first look at the online Roulette table. There are many different Roulette bets and the layout can seem confusing upon the first glance. The truth is, though, that Roulette and Roulette betting are pretty easy to learn. The basic idea of the game is to put down a bet or two and hope that luck is on your side. However, in order to ensure that you’re making the most out of Roulette betting, here’s a look at the different Roulette bets and odds, their available payout, and the probability of winning them.

Bet: Black or Red
Payout: 1:1
Probability Win: 47.37%

This is one of the most popular Roulette bets because it’s one of the easiest to understand. It’s known as an Outside Bet as it’s placed on the outer section of the table. You’re putting down a single Roulette bet on the winning number being either black or red. That covers nearly 50% of the table so these Roulette odds are pretty decent. However, be aware that it doesn’t cover the green 0 (or the green 00 in the case of American Roulette) and only pays out even money. For example if you wager $1 on black and win, your bet will be returned plus an additional $1, making your total payout $2. It’s a safer bet for those looking for some simple online Roulette fun.

Bet: Even or Odd
Payout: 1:1
Probability Win: 47.37%

This is another popular Outside Roulette bet as it too is simple. Once again, you’ve covered nearly 50% of the board with a single wager, and, once again, this excludes the green 0. Your chances of winning are pretty decent, but this bet also holds an even money payout. If you’re looking for a bigger score with more of a risk, you’ll want to try something else.

Bet: 1-18 or 19-36
Payout: 1:1
Probability Win: 47.37%

This is another outside bet that splits the board in half and has pretty good Roulette odds. You’re placing a single Roulette bet on the winning number either falling between 1-18 or 19-36. This is also sometimes referred to as the ‘low bet’ or ‘high bet’ as you are betting on the low or high numbers on the board. Again, it holds an even money payout.

Bet: Dozen
Payout: 2:1
Probability Win: 31.58%

This bet is known as an outside bet and splits the Roulette table into three sections: 1-12, 13-27, and 28-36. This Roulette bet covers all numbers in the section that’s chosen. It carries more of a risk, though the payout is bigger. It has a 2:1 payout, which means that if you put down a Roulette bet of $1, your bet will not only be returned, but it will also be doubled for a total payout of $3.

Bet: Column
Payout: 2:1
Probability Win: 31.58%

This is an outside Roulette bet that also divides the board into three sections. It’s placed at the bottom of the columns of numbers and covers the 12 numbers in the column directly above your Roulette bet. It too carries a 2:1 payout, which is decent, but the Roulette odds are slightly worse than those bets that divide the board in half.

Bet: 6 Numbers
Payout: 5:1
Probability Win: 15.79%

This Roulette bet is known as an inside bet as it’s placed on the inner section of the board. It’s placed on the line between the two rows of numbers you want to bet on, which means that it covers a total of six numbers. For example, place your chip on the line between 19 and 22 and your Roulette bet will cover the six numbers in those two rows. The Roulette odds on this bet are quite a bit slimmer than those of the Roulette bets mentioned above, but it does hold a payout of 5:1. This means that if you wager $1 and win, you’ll get your bet back plus $5 for a total payout of $6.

Bet: 4 Numbers
Payout: 8:1
Probability Win: 10.53%

This is another inside Roulette bet that covers several numbers at once. It’s placed on the cross section between the four numbers you want to cover. For example, place your chip on the cross between 8, 9, 11, and 12 and you will cover all four of those numbers. Should any of them win, you will get a payout worth 8:1. That’s a return of $8 on a $1 Roulette bet for a total payout of $9. Though the payout may be big, these Roulette odds are a bit slimmer. So, if you’re not into the risk, it’s best to try one of the safer bets.

Bet: 3 Numbers
Payout: 11: 1
Probability Win: 7.89%

This is an inside bet that covers three numbers. It has a similar placement to the six number bet, but instead of placing your chip on the outer line between two rows, you will place your chip on the outer line, positioned in the middle of the row of three numbers you want to cover. For example, place this Roulette bet on the outside line toward the middle of the 10 square and your bet will then cover 10, 11, and 12. It has a massive payout, but the Roulette odds aren’t quite as good. It definitely requires a bit of luck.

Bet: 2 Numbers
Payout: 17:1
Probability Win: 5.26%

This is an inside Roulette bet that covers any two numbers of your choice. Simply place your chip on the vertical line between the two numbers you want to cover. For example, place a chip on the line that separates 14 and 15 and this Roulette bet will cover both of these numbers. Like all of the number bets, the Roulette odds are slimmer than odds mentioned above, but the payout is excellent. This is another one for those players that like a little risk.

Bet: Single Number
Payout: 35:1
Probability Win: 2.63%

As you can see, and probably suspected, this Roulette bet holds the largest payout available in Roulette betting. It has massive payout of 35:1, but the Roulette odds are pretty low. Nevertheless, if you wish to place this wager, just put your chip on your lucky number and wait for the outcome. The odds might be slim, but the payout is pretty satisfying.
